Southern California Masters Track State Championships were this past weekend over Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th. I want to start out by commending the promoter, organizers, volunteers and USA Cycling for running a great event. Races ran on time with timely results and announcing. Thanks to all that made this event possible. Results: September 23rd: Time Trial 500 meters 65-69: 1/3 gold medal Team Sprint 65-69 1/1 gold medal 65+ September 24th Individual 2K Pursuit 65-69 2/3 silver medal Team Pursuit 1/1 gold medal 65+ My focus this year was the 500 meters so I was targeting this race and Masters Track Worlds in Carson, CA. Initially, the championship was scheduled at Velo Sports Center but an NFL game schedule conflict resulted in the race being relocated to the San Diego Velodrome (“SDV”). Working out at SDV, I met two new racers in my age group and we decided to do team pursuit and team sprint. We managed some practice and on race day, we had excellent execution. Last year, we lived in NorCal and I won the 500 meter NorCal state championship time trial. It was a fun weekend of racing with wonderful weather and the SD Velodrome was a very nice venue. The second week in October is the Masters World Championships at Velo Sports Center in Carson, CA. My goal is to make the podium in the 500 meters. Below are some pics. Thanks for reading. Rich Allen 500 meter podium 2K podium with Andrea Rossi standing in the winner since he had to leave early.
